Struggling to attract diverse Gen Z talent?

Try these 4 steps:

Step 1: Inform Your Strategy

📊 Capture Data

Find out which demographics are underrepresented in your organisation and applicant pools. As well as at what point in the application process they’re dropping off.

🤲🏽 Employee Resource Groups

Lean on your employee resource groups to understand their perception of your culture and what improvements can be made.

👩🏿‍💻 Candidate Focus Groups

Sit down with small groups of Gen Z applicants and find out what they think of your JDs, job description and employer branding.

Step 2: Select Partners

Once you know which demographics you’re struggling to attract, select relevant partners.

👋🏽 Diverse Talent Communities & Careers Charities

My team run our careers community DIVERSE which supports over 8000 black and ethnic minority young people many from low-income backgrounds. Every day they come to us to find new employers - you could be one of them.

🎓 Uni’s, Colleges and Local Communities

If you’re hiring outside of London it’s important to collaborate with local networks.

Step 3: Share Insights & Advice

Once you’ve picked your partners give back and attract.

🎙️ Virtual Events

Share insights on what it’s like working in your industry. Educate on skills related to the roles you’re hiring for via online workshops.

🏢 In Office Events

Have candidates register to attend, selecting those who are passionate about your organisation and interested in your career paths. Take candidates on a tour of your office, create networking opportunities with current staff, review CVs and teach them about your company.

🚩 Careers Fairs

If you’re not a well-known organisation, piggyback off the attention of other bigger brands who are hosting stands at careers fairs. We’re hosting a careers fair with the Gen Z club in September in London. If you would be interested in having a stand or joining a panel to ensure your organisation is top of the application list, complete this form (Lloyds, Warner Bros Discovery, Savils, Capital One will all be joining move quick while we still have space)

📹 Behind The Scenes Content

Film your careers events and create short clips from employees giving their top pieces of careers advice for Gen Z

Step 4: Amplify

💼 Diversity Job Boards

Get your roles in front of a new audience.

🤳🏿 Social Media

Share content from events, new-hire success stories and announcements on socials.

🚀 Influencer Marketing

Work with careers-focused influencers on TikTok and run their posts as Ads if they get traction.

📣 We’re hosting our first-ever in-person Future Talent Careers Fair in London!

It’s for hundreds of Gen Z early career and junior talent from underrepresented backgrounds looking for inclusive employers.

If you would be interested in having a stand and ensuring your organisation is top of their application list, complete this form.

Spaces are very limited so please do so asap if you are interested.

Until next time 👋🏽
