🤲🏽 Your interviews should feel like this

👋🏽 What under-represented junior candidates are saying:

“I went to an interview recently where I felt like I could do my absolute best.”

“The best thing about it was that it wasn’t too daunting at all. The vibe was welcoming and relaxed which put me and ease and made me feel I could be myself. It was the small kind gestures before and during that I appreciated.”

“I already put a lot of pressure on myself so this type of environment was ideal. It made me want to work there more and even if I don’t get the job I enjoyed the experience.”

“When it comes to feedback I want to understand exactly where my gaps are so I can try to fill them with online courses or through volunteering. Sometimes I get vague generic feedback and it just makes me feel stuck."

🤔 My key takeaways:

  • We’ll get the best out of under-represented talent by creating a welcoming environment (small gestures go a long way)

  • Make feedback specific, honest and actionable

  • Drop-out rates can be reduced by minimising gaps between stages and remaining responsive. Once offers are out connecting candidates with others they’ll be joining with keeps them excited and more likely to accept

Until next time, happy talent attracting.
