We asked our careers community of Black & Ethnic Minority students, graduates and junior professionals what they want to see more of from Employers this year.

And there was one big winner.

👋🏽 What under-represented junior candidates are saying:

“I want to know more than what’s on the company website to really be confident that this is the right place for me to work and the right role too.”

"I’d love to know more about what I might be working on and what the environment and culture is like”.

“I want to be more targeted with my applications and only apply to employers whose values align with my own but the problem is that I don’t know anyone working at the places I want to work to find out what it’s really like.”

🤔 My key takeaways:

 🔹 Events: Join or host events targetting under-represented candidates to answer their questions live and share what a typical day is like

🔹 Careers Podcasts: TA and DE&I leaders can attend or host careers-related podcasts to share jobs, explain your initiatives and best career advice

🔹 Behind The Scenes Videos: Encourage your marketing team to create short videos like office tours and share on social media so potential candidates can get a feel for your working environment and culture
